Applications of Applied Behavior Analysis
Applications of behavior analysis are not only reserved for autism treatment. Applied behavior analysis can be used in a variety of other fields. Below are some other examples of areas in which ABA has been proven effective, brief description of the common techniques used and links for further information.
Organizational Behavior ManagementPrinciple and techniques of behavior analysis can be applied to a business environment. This can include performance management, staff training, customer service, and safety. The most useful and effective behavior change techniques used in organizational behavior management include instructions, feedback, model, and rehearsal. The video to the right demonstrates these techniques in a bank setting in order to improve customer service in employees. (Crowell et al., 1988). Animal TrainingIndividuals using behavioral techniques have been very successful in training animals to engage in appropriate behaviors around humans as well as perform tricks and demonstrate other skills on command. A popular procedure used on animals with aggression is a negative reinforcement procedure, known as Constructive Aggression Treatment (CAT). Clicker training is also commonly using a clicking sound as a conditioned reinforcer to shape an animal's behavior. A video of a dog's behavior being shaped is shown to the left. More information regarding animal training can be found here (courtesy of Morgan Katz).

EducationBehavioral principles and techniques can be applied and useful in the field of education. Many education systems unknowingly use behavioral principles everyday. Popular behavior change techniques include token economies (on an individual and group level), precision teaching, and group contingencies. An example of a positive reinforcement procedure being applied to individuals and groups in a school setting can be viewed to the right.
